When you are moving down the road enough air is moving through the radiator to keep it cool. At an idle it isn't, which points directly to the fan clutch not allowing the fan to cool it.

Sounds like the fan isn't drawing enough air through the radiator. Check that the fan wasn't put on backwards. If it was, it'll still pull air through the radiator, just not enough. The blades have an airfoil shape (just like an airplane's wings - it should spin so the thick part of the blade leads. You can also try mounting an electric fan in front of the radiator to help when stopped.

could be a block between the radiator and condensor in equiped with ac that is. check the coolant level, make sure the fan is drawing air into the engine compartment, could be wter pump impellars are worn away, even a clogged radiator.

(Fan inopertive or Erratic),Raise Hood start car someone watching temp gauge ,you watch fan,it should start working at mid temp 190 degree coolant temp.If not isolate, turn eng off, pull
wire connecter loose from fan,now with a wire about 12 gauge touch fan probe and pos on battery,( works ),now go to( Fan Relay) Replace,There is one check you might do first ,with plug removed, from fan, circuit tester 12 volt D C see if you have current in plug at Mid temp operation. if so Fan Motor is suspect.
replace,With 12 volt dc With temp you should have current at plug. You stated fan clutch was replace,Someone thought clutch bad,Fan clutch is to disengage fan at highway speed.

*most* cars get hot while idling at a light, sitting in a parking lot, or driving slow because there's not enough air flowing over the engine. if your cr didnt used to do that, i would check the thermostate or adjust when your fan comes on

could be a few things one fan clutch is not working right. i doubt that's it. second and more likely is your radiator is plugged up.
or last your water pump is worn out. it most likely to be one of the last 2

Try changing out your thermostat it sounds like it is sticking closed.
Price 8.00 to 12.00 dollars for the part not including the gasket.
Doesn't take long to do only two bolts to pop off the thermostat housing cover.
