Currently police departments have little restrictions on when and how they can taser a person. Non-violent citizens, elderly citizens, and even handicapped citizens have been tasered by the police. According to Amnesty International, more than 200 citizens have died after being tasered by the police. In most instances the victims were non-violent and had no weapons on them.

If people would just do what they are told in the first place it would never come to that anyway .

actually i think law enforcement was trying to reduce the amount of deaths based on the fact that some people are irrational and you can point a gun in their face and it doesn't stop them from coming at you so you have no choice but to pull the trigger. tasers are a way to stop someone, hopefully without deadly force since a lot of people won't back down otherwise. when you think of a taser think about the fact that it used to be a gun they were holding up, and people usual have a smaller chance of surviving a bullet then being tasered, but obviously some people don't, it's nothing to blame on the police, if you can legitimately prove these people were non-violent then you might have an argument, but unless you were there i'm guessing it's not likely

How can you tell when someone is non violent?if these persons were tasered there must have been a reason,Amnesty international does not have records and don't care on how many police officers have been killed on the line of duty just trying to stop an innocent domestic fight between husband and wife, why anyone would want to be a police officer in these times is beyond me,if they don't do anything they are accused of negligence,if they do something they are accused of police brutality

As a cop, I think your facts are a little exaggerated a little bit. Tasers are only used when needed, and elderly citizens and handicapped citizens are never ever tasered unless we have clear evidence that they are violent.

The police feel the need to taser people because they are cowards and enjoy power.
