Swollen lymph nodes indicate an infection somewhere. The blood test will identify the germ so it can be treated with the proper meds. They don't need to hurt to signal a problem. When you get your meds be sure to take all of them.

mine were just infected. it hurts a lot. once you are over it be sure to wash your mouth out alot because otherwise you will get ulcers all over your tonsils from lymph drainage.(that is what I have now and it hurts even worse)U should go do the blood test because you might have mono. Trust me ,DO NOT DRINK SODA IT MAKES THEM BURN!!!!!! The ones under your jaw hurt the most. They will usually will be swollen and tender to touch. I recomend eating icecream it feels really goodon your throat.

my first response was to say NO
I don't wanna answer your question
but since I already did....
you don't necessarily have an infection in your lymph nodes per se, but the swelling of the lymph nodes indicates an infection in your body (make sense?)
anyway, yes they do hurt sometimes!
but not always.

I've been sick and had swollen sore lymph nodes before, but when I had Mono (Mononucleosis) they were not sore at all. I guess it depends on what's wrong. Good thing you're getting medical attention, though! Take care! :)

Yes, mine did that. They tested my blood and said I have epstien-barr virus. I connects to Mono I think. I don't know if it would be the same though. Do you have them on your neck too?
Hope you find out. Good Luck!

if your lymph nodes are infected it means you have some kind of bacteria or virus in your body & your body was trying to fight it...that;s why the swelling occurs
