I knew a person once, who said he would rather sleep anywhere he could find, so he would have more money to spend on drugs and alcohol, he was perfectly healthy, worked odd jobs for cash and recieved a monthly check for "disability" (which he was not) ,and he did spend all his income on riotous living, lived like a bum, and was proud of it. I said knew, because he died of scirrohsis of the liver, he was only in his thirty's or forty's, you draw your own conclusions as to whether this was a lifestyle choice, or was he a victim of addiction?. remember he was well aware of his plight and chose to not seek help and readily rebuffed it at every turn. ...There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

No, it's more of a symptom of some mental disorder or alcohol and/or drug abuse. Most homeless people did not actually choose to be the way they are but only ended up that way because of their disorder or illness. I have never really seen a mentally or emotionally healthy homeless person.

For some derilects it is a lifestyle. It is beyond me why they would like to live that way but I actually know someone that chooses to be homeless. Alot of the people that beg for money make more money begging than working.

There is such a thing as not having any choices left and with your attitude I hope that never happens to you.

However if it does....I give money every month to help feed the homeless.

It can be a choice. Some people like the freedom, and living outside the norms of society.

But most people are forced into it through economic pressures, drug/alcohol addiction or abuse at home from parents or spouses.

No, it's not. It's the lack of opportunities and desperation of those that are left behind by society.

For most homeless people it's definitely not a choice.

It's a forced life style i think, or something that they believe is an easy life. For me i don't really think that anyone wants to be homeless.

I would think so. Some people have no choice. They might loose their home or something. And have no place to turn.

It is a lifestyle, but it isn't a choice.
