Im thinking about attending the university of washington in seattle.

all the negatives that ive heard about seattle is: it rains all the time, like 6 days a week. There are alot of poor people there. There are alot of drugs, especially meth addicts.

are all of these negatives true? and what are some positives?

No, here is the truth...It rains here mostly in the winter. If you look up precipitation amounts for other metropolitan areas, you will be surprised to learn that Seattle is behind Chicago, Washington DC and even Atlanta in the amount of rain that we get.

There are homeless people here, but there are homeless people in every metropolitan area. Same with drug addicts. Most of the meth activity I've heard about on the news is in the suburbs or in rural areas much further outside of Seattle.

The real cons to living in Seattle are traffic, high housing prices, and darkness in the winter months. Because we are the northern most city in the continental US, it is pretty dark here in the winter. Pretty much only 6 hours of gloomy daylight in the middle of winter.

UW is a great school and you'd be foolish to pass up the opportunity to go attend there. Also, I know so many people who come here for school or internships and never leave because they love it here so much.

Best of luck to you!

poor people and drugs exist in every major metropolitan areas, and it's really marginal compared to cities like New York or Los Angeles. Seattle is pretty clean and the weather is not that bad either. The assumption about the rain is a sort of myth because Seatte is not a rainforest or near the vicinity of it. I live a little south from Seattle, and during the summer time it's hot and sunny, almost like California, except it has cool breeze unlike the scorching Californian summer. It rains mostly during fall and winter, and it doesn't snow much either. So Winter is the wet and muggy season but it all goes away by Spring.
