People have different comfort levels. I personally don't mind someone hugging me or standing close to me, but when talking to somone face to face, I get very irritated when they talk too close to my face. I'm not insecure, as the first poster suggested, I just think it's intrusive and unnecessary.

Here's an interesting link on personal space...enjoy.

We're not threatened. We just don't like it. You should respect that. We're all different with our likes and dislikes. Personally, I don't want to smell anyone's breath or have them "spit" on me when they talk. So, just take a step back and don't get so offended. We have every right to our "personal space". There are still plenty of people out there who wouldn't mind rubbing elbows with you.
