What usually causes squeeling? I have a 95 accord with 196K miles belts were replaced at 180K and they are in good shape. It started when I had the heat on all the way. What do you think it is?

usually water pump, but ive seen the alternator do it. fyi changing the alternator sucks the last one i did i found that by removing the alternator and fengagling it all the way under the engine and out the other side you dont have to pull the engine like a shop will charge you.

Hi Sounds like the alternator belt is loose. Check all the belts and tighten if necessary

The belt tensioner should have been replaced also,if it was then maybe the belts are after market and they don,t quite fit
properly. They would be OK until the sharp edges get worn and then they would slip.

New belts sometimes need to br readjusted. They may have stretched a little.

My car had a similar problem, and after further investigation they told me the Pulley was bent.

Did you check that out?
