I like bright bold flowers with oramental grasses like Overdam. So think hot, like yellow (Hyperion Daylilies), golden orange (Goldsturm Rudbeckias), red (Red Flower Carpet Rose for a shrub rose, Dublin Bay Rose for a climber rose) and electric blue (Delphinium). Use a fine-textured white flower like baby's breath to weave between these bold colors, to buffer them and tie them together, filling in the gaps into a complete picture.

When planting grasses, I like to mix in both smaller and larger plants as well. Also statues that are partly hidden by the grasses, giveing glimpses when the wind blows.
Putting in some ground cover around them, or some colored stone helps to keep the weeds down, and also makes for some good contrast.

Some good suggestions.
Calamagrostis 'Overdam' is a cool-season grass so it looks its best in spring and fall. But it will look good most of the summer anyway. I like saturated colors with it too. Try some plants with darker foliage or big leaves to lend contrast. I might not pick daylilies or siberian iris for instance because their foliage is "grassy". How about peony, palace purple coralbells, hibiscus, shrub roses (try Knockout), Penstemon 'Husker's Red', Stokesia, or Geranium 'Rozanne'

Some good answers here, but keep in mind the season of interest for your Overdam grass.
Do you want to have somethingflowering before it has its moment in the sun? Grasses are hot weather and later summer show plants.
Or, do you want something that will be at its peak at the same time and compliment the Overdam?

Echinacea and Rudbeckia. Lavender and rosemary. Try a few other grasses with varied colors and textures. Some iris and montbretia, crocosmia, giant alliums, delphiniums, asters, mums, and a few clusters of spring bulbs. The main thing is that you like what you have when you are done.
