The only Democrat would be Joe Lieberman and he's not running.

If we were seriously fighting a "war on terrorism" we would be declaring war on Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and other American allies whose support for terrorism we conveniently ignore because they are our allies.

If you want to fight a "war on terrorism" you have to hold our country and our allies to the same standards you hold our enemies.

The sad fact of the matter is that the US routinely supports terrorists and terrorist states (including Iraq under Saddam) whenever it is convenient to do so.

Adding to the hypocrisy is our ugly history of subverting democratic elections in countries like Iran in 1954 (if you want to understand the resurgence of Islamic fundamentalism and its war with the West, that's one place to start) and Chile in 1973.

If you want to win this so-called "war on terror," then you have to push for democratic reform EVERYWHERE. For God's sake, women in Saudi Arabia can't vote and homosexuality is a capitol offense.

Of course if, like a lot of Americans, you simply don't care about the oppressive nature of many of the countries we're allied with, then you need to get used to people hating us.

The United States CAN be a beacon of hope to the downtrodden masses around the world. And the US can subvert the appeal of terrorist groups by reforming our foreign policy to emphasize human rights ... instead of simply maintaining a pipeline for cheap consumer goods and labor markets.

But no one is going to take our rhetoric about freedom and democracy seriously if we continue to support these oppressive regimes (which, it should be noted, have historically been supported by both Democrats and Republicans).

Only when we as a people demand equal rights and justice for everyone, will Americans (and the rest of the world) stop being the targets of terrorism.

Don't count out Joe Lieberman. He ran once, he might take up the race again when the far left is a smaller influence on the Democratic Party.

You might want to look at the least favorite of the Republican candidates, governor Huckabee from Arkansas. I heard him interiviewed and liked him. He's getting almost zero press, so he's favored by 1% of conservatives in the last poll I saw.

(Many of us would like to see Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum running. Few politicians can be regarded as statesmen, and these are among them.)

Lieberman is a repub, just look at his voting record. Macain is too old to make it through 4 years and Julie is more interested in eating Italian food than running the country. Besides, Julie can't even speak english as neither can Bush. I say vote for me, me, me. I;ll drop the bomb, end the war and take over the mid-east.

Ron Paul will do it. He was against the war in Iraq which is good for the democratic vote. and he was for shutting down terrorism, just not the way that our current president has bumbled it.

McCain and Juliani are good. I'd add Romney and maybe Gingrich to that list as well. I hope McCain gets nominated. I'd vote for him.

SO FAR, all Republicans would stand up for the USA, and fight the Terrorists.
SO FAR, no Democrats would really fight the Terrorists.
Democrats would prefer giving "Big Democrat Hugs" to the Terrorists.

The American people do not support the war on terror. I hope they elect someone who ends the damn thing.
