This goes way back to old tyme times when an album had many songs and a record had two. Like the old .45s.

It has nothing to do with sound quality.

BTW, the guy below me is wrong. The song of the year goes to the song of the year. They are all different things.

Album is for the entire album, record is for a single recording.

The record of the year is for the actual quality of the recording. The other is for the "song" of you will.
