I know that this sounds weird but at my prenatal classes the instructor told me that expensive tuna is no good for you pregnant or not, the cheaper no name brands and that are better for you......the expensive tuna brands are stuff like swordfish.....which are high in mercury......but its like anything eat in moderation not alot......theres a link to website that I hope is helpful.

Small doses. The 'safest' kind is the chunk lite, as opposed to the solid white for canned tuna. Tuna steak is the least safe. If you're really craving a tuna sandwich, use the chunk lite, and try to limit it- the mercury count is bad for the baby.. I'm dealing with lack of tuna too-- 6 mos no tuna :( I'd rather not take the risk. I put it on my list of things I'm gonna eat my first week home after the baby's born- along with an italian hero (cold cuts carry a dangerous bacteria), and buffalo wings with xtra bleu cheese (bleu cheese also dangerous). I've actually made a list!

You should limit tuna to 4 oz a week. Tuna has a high mercury content

yes and no.
you can have 4oz a week of tuna because of the mercury that is in it is not good for the fetus.
I only know this because I was pregnant 7 months ago and had to deal with the same thing.

ask your doctor...but from what I've read ..stay away from the white albacore tuna...eat the other kind( the one that is cheaper) only once a mo....because of the Mercury

No. It is good to stay away from fish, because they contain a high amount of mercury.

not all fish is bad during pregnancy! some fishes you can eat! but stay away from big fish! the bigger the fish the more mercury in it! for expample like Shark...

You need to ask your doctor about that. I know there's a limit on how much you're supposed to have a week.
