In almost everything they espouse. From religious to spending to closet homosexuality.

If they do not lie then they exaggerate the truth until it looks exactly like a lie.

And all the ones who responded to this question is lying through their teeth.

Technically, both parties are conservative -- i.e. they want to conserve the stranglehold this government has exercised over the American people for the last 150 years. But I agree with you in that the "small government" Republicans are probably one of the biggest jokes in political history. It's just unfortunate that the liberal response to the problem of too much government is more government.

I have to laugh when I read these questions and answers every evening. Especially the comments about liberals taxing and spending and making government bigger and spending more. It is a historical fact that the republicans spend more while in office than democrats. Over the last thirty four years government spending has grown significantly faster while a republican has sat in the White House. You say you don't believe that, OK with me, do a little research of your own and see what you come up with. Here's a link if you choose not to research the subject.

You will find increased spending in every presidential
term. More and more people and programs want hand-
outs, and then the politicians keep inserting their own
"pork" into good bills that go through Congress, and up
and up goes the size of government. There should be a
cap, but no politician wants to cap the programs and
spendings they are for. Vicious Circle. Can't blame this
on just conservatives...liberals are even bigger spenders.
Look at Nancy Pelosi who wants Bush to jet her family
and friends back and forth at her whim (that really does
cost lots of money....even tho she is a millionaire herself).

No, it isn't. The actual lie is that the GOP is conservative. Neo-conservatism is the right wing version of socialism. You are correct about the growth and centrilization under Bush. This is what makes him a liberal republican, and that is simply no good.

The size of the government grows larger with every president we put into office. That's because as time goes on, more and more citizens are sticking their hands out. This has nothing to do with Conservatism.

You're confusing conservative with neo-conservative. Bush is the latter.

Conservatives believe in a small gov't that basically just protects us and that's it. They don't mess with our freedoms, fight unnecessarily, etc.

Neo-conservatives believe in big government, and using that large government to promote their agenda. This agenda includes pushing Christian values onto everyone, Christian or not, and using the military for non-essential purposes.

The largest beurocracy on earth other than the Communist Party is the Department of Homeland Security. Which we didn't have before a neocon Pres. I think that sums it up.

Is this the new twist on the Bush haters now? Tell me who is more conservative, Bush, Kerry, or Gore? If you are truly upset, make sure we get a real conservative in from the next primary. But, until the Dems offer a better choice, we are stuck with the GOP as the more conservative party.
