Try to be aware of how dry your soft palate is. This is usually the first indication of a sore throat coming on. First, stay well hydrated! Avoid drafts that blow on/across your face as they will dry out your sinuses and spark the whole process. Ceiling fans are notorious for this. Also, it is important to find out if sleep with your mouth open, or if you snore, because both of these will contribute to your problems. If this is a case, see a doctor and they will be able to help. Gargling with warm sea salt water also helps too. Not only does it help it feel better, but it inhibits bacterial growth so you don't get a secondary infection.
Good luck!

You've gotta get more sleep or anything else that you do won't really help. I know that I always get sore throats if I have a night of poor or no sleep.
Even if you're feeling sick, you should try and do at least some light exercise (the exception would be if you are running a fever). Also try a humidifier at work (if allowed) and at home to keep hydrated. You could also try wearing turtlenecks and/or a scarf to keep your neck warm.

You're taking excellent precautions, but think about wrapping a long winter scarf around your face and neck several times to keep this frigid dry air away from your mouth and nose. That air is very dry and cold, thus causing your throat and nose or the upper airway to be dry and sore. With adding the scarf, you allow the air to be warmed, providing moisture to the air you're breathing. Also wear a warm hat to keep you warmer, you lose about 30-40 % of your body heat through your your head, uncovered in this weather.Getting a "flu" shot,it's not too late,it will take effect in 7-10 days.Keep yourself hydrated, add some moisture to your living enviorment,a "cool mist" vaporizer is the safest.Take care. There are three simple things!
1. Eat a small amount of dried cranberry 4 times per day.
It stops infection of the gums and throat.
2. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water.
3. Floss every time after eating and at night before bed.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

Health first than any otherthing, do you smoke if yes than try slowly reduce it than stop it, i think you do not drink enough water you should drink 8 glass a day. when you wake up in the morning before you do any thing drink 4 glass of water room temperature not cold from the freeze than do your tooth brush after brush, wait for 45 mints (do not put anything in your mouth) than you can have your breakfast, after breakfast and diner do not drink any water wait for 45 mints, and also do not eat after 7.30pm. when you have cough or sore throat problem do not have any milk product, like chess, yogurt, cream also do not drink any coca cola, or cold drink, you can try yoga breathing exercise as well but make your empty stomach. good luck. Reflexology and homeopathy is very good to gather.
