Almost certainly a codec problem, try downlaoding the free DivX player from here:
http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/

Go grab the k-lite mega codec, after installing this, you can play anything, including the violin!

I would suggest videolan from http://www.videolan.org free and plays everything you can throw at it.
for windows media player you may need codecs try XP codec pack from http://www.free-codecs.com

do a search for a software called GSPOT. it will analise ur system and tell you if you have the right codec to read the file and if i remember well, it will get it for you if you dont have it. fairly simple to use.

sometimes it is a rip off and wont play or your computer is protecting u from getting a bug and wont let u see
