how can i get a canadian checking account if i live in the United States?

Go to a bank with branches in both countries such as RBC and RBC Ventrua... the people there can set it up. (I did this - opening a joint account in Canada and North Carolina with a son who works there... and we can switch funds back and forth etc....

Seriously, try calling our largest bank the Royal Bank of Canada 1 800 769-2511 they can help you.

Open one up in person when you are here. You need a social insurance number . You must be here in person to do this.
