Absolutely. They are counterproductive. They have NEVER solved a single conflict or done anything productive (with the possible exception of delivering food to the hungry once in a great while). We are paying the lion's share of the budget for the UN, only to get slapped in the face continuously.

The United Nations has never been used to its fullest potential. It was created so that no other wars would have to be fought. All disagreements would be resolved in the world's forum, peacefully. That is what the original designers of the UN saw, anyhow. Of course, we can see that it has never been used to that end. It is merely a tool used by a handful of powerful nations to impose sanctions and other punitive acts on lesser nations. In order for it to work effectively, every nation must submit to its authority and recognize its ability to be proactive in all disagreements.

When we deal with the un or any single country we need to use tact and diplomacy.
The un was made to help prevent war and help country's in need.
The member country's take an oath to work together ect...
I think we should work with the un and stop trying to run everything ourselves.

The United Nations remains the largest Terrorist Supporting Entity in the World. Disguised as a Humanitarian Organization the Member Nations continually bolster and embolden Hezzbollah, Al Quida, Hamas, and the Talaban in their efforts to suppress Freedom and destroy Democracy throughout the Middle East.
Even when they do Humanitarian work it is done with Scandal. The Oil for Food Program revealed many involved to be on the take. Benefitting from the exploitation of those they were supposed to be helping.
America has no business involved with such an Organization and will not genuinely combat Terror until we disband from it.

It has been made meaningless by the US and Israel the two countries that may be more trouble than they are worth. They leave a wreck behind them where ever they go.

I suppose if you think conflict resolution and development aid is "trouble."
Without fail, the UN is the scapegoat of inept leadership in the U.S.

It should be thrown out of the US and sent to France where it belongs. So many scandals, Oil for Food for one. A completely inept and morally bankrupt institution.
