I would defend my faith, absolutely. But not, ever, religion. There is a very big difference in the two.
Religion is man made, an institution that trammels faith behind rules, tenets, and dogma decreed by man.
Faith is what you believe in the very inmost core of your being.
Faith I would, and have, defended...Religion, not on your life!

Interesting that you ask that question today of all days, because today I thanked G-d that I was born in the U.S. I don't believe I would be a Christian today if I was born in another place like in the EU where Christianity is practically dead. I attribute the passion I feel to the freedom I have to worship here. I can't say if I would defend my faith as passionately in another culture,
because I haven't had to. Maybe.

First things first, every human being deserves the opportunity to think for themselves. If your way of life that is a society based on the freedom to choose, criticize government, and become anything you wish without interference or told what to believe is attacked, then you bet I would fight to defend it. Even though I may not agree with what other people have to say, I would still defend their right to say it. That is the only life I know, "FREEDOM"
I would defend this life unto my last breath.
Peace

I would defend a virtue or a creation of mine, but never a religion. Even if I was born into it.
If I was, I'd hope I would someday come across a copy of Thus Spoke Zarathustra so I could be awakened from my dogmatic slumber.

Of course no. How you defend your faith is influenced by your culture and by your society.
