Because one year solutions for a team never work out. Garcia is getting old and it would be stupid for the Bears to bring him in for a season. Rex Grossman is going to get much better this next year.

Chicago will have the #31 pick in the first round and I doubt Ginn, Jr. will drop that far down on the list.
Also, Garcia won't be going to Chicago. The Bears will more than likely see how Rex progresses in the next season (which is in all reality his sophomore year in his career). Looking at this year as Grossman's rookie year, think about this: Manning's rookie season as a starter resulted in 3739 yards, 26 TDs, and 28 INTs (71.2 QB rating) while Grossman finished with 3139 yards, 23 TDs and 20 INTs (73.9 QB rating). Instead of dumping on Grossman for his first full season, just wait to see what he does next year. He may not become another Peyton, but then again Manning's rookie season was not exactly spectacular ... and he didn't reach the Super Bowl his first year out too.
Garcia won't leave Philly without the Eagles getting a solid draft pick package or a definitive, solid defensive player(s). Garcia could be looking at a move to either Houston (although Plummer seems to have the inside track to that job if it goes through) or Minnesota (Tarvaris Jackson is not getting the support that the organization should be giving him).

I think that Garcia would be a short term fix, but would work in the Bears system. A team built around handoffs wouldn't need a great deep ball thrower, and Garcia can make those passes. The only problem is that this completely nullify's the impact that Teddy Ginn would have as a receiver, and they already have Hester returning kicks. Garcia for the short run, Ginn for the long.

Because it goes against any long-term plan they might have. Garcia may be good for the short term but benching Rex in favor of Garcia, after all that Rex did (YES, Grossman won games for you guys, the ball has to get in the end zone SOMEHOW outside of the defense) would KILL his confidence...and rest assured, he would not re-sign at the end of the season, which I'm sure is fine and dandy for a lot of Bears fans...but then what? Garcia is old...Griese isn't getting younger. And Ted Ginn, Jr won't last to the end of the first round.

I agree ... he's 36 years old but so what? He's a great quarterback. He won a Canadian Grey Cup, he went to three pro bowls with the 49ers, ....... then TO started talking POOP about him and that's what made people think differently about him. But I think the Bears would be unstoppable with Garcia.

Jeff is getting older
Jeff is good, but there are times he's no different than Grossman
The Bears have Griese who is not bad, as a back up. I'd give Rex one more year. As bad as he was they still did better than most teams.

Jeff is not good in that kind of offense. He's more a west coast offence. Even if he's better than Gross-man, he's getting old and he rather have a west coast style offense to be successful.
