If he made it up as he went along then what aims drive the protocol development? is it to simply get it working a trial and error metohd?

and what methods are used to improve the code behind the protocol?? more guess work?

I seem to rember reading something about how he comes up with "magic numbers" which he seems to just pick a t random and they seem to work, does anybody else know about this.

p.s. if this the right way to add comments to aopen question?
