Every president, except George Washington, lived in the White House. British troups burned the White House in 1814, but it was quickly rebuilt.

Not built yet...I would say that George Washington maybe the best President we ever had. Any President that warned us about the evils of Political Parties and Foreign Entanglements scores really high in my book.

The White house wasn't built until after his term as President. It is either that or he didn't know the address, couldn't resist the last part.

Because Martha Washington HATED the carpet, and there weren't enough bathrooms or closet space.
And it wasn't wired for George and Martha's home theatre system and internet.
