i'm from england, i have lived in the u.s. for a year and am now in the 8th grade. we're studying u.s. history and my british accent isn't helping my poplularity. wherever i go i hear "the british are coming. the british are coming." advice please. :(

Ick, I'm sorry. You can think about how some of them will feel a few years from now when they're doing a foreign exchange program. You can always try turning it back on them: "Are? Is there another British person around?"
Remember too that a lot of people are going to think your accent's really pretty. It will certainly help your popularity elsewhere!

Well, you're in 8th grade. People aren't very intelligent then.
Plus, they could be jealous. British accents are adorable.
"The British are coming"? Is that the best they could come up with?
Don't worry about it, they'll grow out of it. Hopefully. Just ignore it.

thats cute. the US and britain have made amends since then. Maybe when you get to that chapter you will feel better. Also, the brits were the first to abolish slavery. The black kids in your class will appreciate that.
