I got pregnant in November on it. It was due to be changed at my yearly checkup in January (it expired this month). Because it was right where it was supposed to be, the doctor thinks it's because I was so close to the expiration date that the hormones being produced got too low to prevent pregnancy. I had to have it removed so there's no complications with the pregnancy, but there's a 25% chance of miscarriage if you do. I actually plan on going back to it after the baby's born, but my husband's getting a vasectomy as well, so hopefully we'll be doubly protected.

I just got Mirena put in today and my Dr. told me that it will make you periods irregular, very light periods, and in 20% of women it can actually make you have no period at all. There is a very tiny chance that pregnancy could happen b/c BC is not 100% effective. If you're really worried take a test or call your doc and have a check up. :)

No, but the IUD is 99% effective. Nothing is 100% but abstinence. Sometimes the IUD becomes displaced. It's important to check for your strings at least monthly.

No, I'm thinking of getting that for birth control after my baby is born. Is there a problem with that one? If so, I don't want to get on it.
