I keep asking my friend to show me what keys to press to make a smiley face, a heart, that swirly thing and stuff like that but she won't! I'm only 14 so I'm not really a genius at computers and typing!

A lot of people ask this question so I'll re-post my answer step-by-step:
☼ Click "Start"
☼ Go to "Programs"
☼ Go to "Accessories"
☼ Go to "System Tools"
☼ Click on "Character Map"
The Character Map has all the little ☼♦♥♪►◊♫☼☺♠♂ and even some €‗‚ڱڭصﮄﮔﮟﻻ.
► Note: be sure to use a normal looking font. Webdings and Wingdings won't work on Yahoo! otherwise they'll come out looking like this LN¡C instead of what you wanted.

Type :) in word it will make a smiley, highlight it and L Click it will have a menu of Shtcuts u can give them Keys that u press.

and read the instructions carefully. The part with the "smiley face", "heart" and that "swirley thing" (so specific you are!) are there on the second section.
another "swirley thing" is the @ symbol....check your upper-case number keys.

press alt on types random numbers on the right number thing(make sure its on nums lock)
