Talk about it, and if no one is around, write about it. Then, after you have done that, find something to look forward to.
Many people have been depressed lately due to the winter season and the lack of light. I keep telling them the groundhog said spring is coming early, so relief is on the way!

If you ask the general population (who are not depressed) they will say to exercise, to talk to other people for support and be more active.
However I suffer from depression and the only thing I can do sometimes just to make it through another day is to go back to bed to make the day go by faster and so I don't have to feel the pain of feeling miserable...

Don't eat a ton of chocolate. Then you'll be down and fat. The best thing to do it think through it and find the root of your troubles. Then try to work that out. You'll feel good because you have accomplished something that made you feel better. I'm depressed but I can't find the root of it.

This is such a loaded question and everyone seems to have their own answer based on what seems to be best for them or what science seems to have deemed is best for us. Really you have to do by trial and error what seems to work best for you.
For me, exercise never did nothing when i felt down or depressed. I mean i had to work on myself to get over feeling down and depressed so that the next time i felt down and depressed i was able to overcome it. Exercise is simply like a "drug". You take it and it eases the pain for a bit and then in awhile the pain returns.
For myself i would travel to a place that was comforting to me and that i would simply let myself "wallow in my sorrows" and let the pain simmer and really try to allow myself to connect with my feelings and talk to myself and talk out what i was feeling.
If your depression gets too overwhelming and you find yourself getting physically sick over being down then it is time to see a doctor.
It is up to you as to what is the best thing to and as i said you can only do that by trying different things. Good luck hon.

Depression is a state of mind.
There is clinical depression and just feeling down.
If you wake up and tell yourself 'im depressed' you will be, and you will interpret things that happen to you throughout the day negatively.
So I think you should start with considering what is it that bothers you and does it really worth it?

Get 10-20 Minutes of Sunlight on skin (w/ sunscreen)
Get an hour of exercise (walk, step class, yoga)
Force laughter ... start by practicing "Ha- Ha- Ha" ... then change to "Ha - Hee - Ha - Ha" then "Hee- Hee - Ha- Hee". Do this for 1/2 hour. You can also stand in frount of the mirror and make funny faces while practicing laughing.

eat or drink something in case your blood sugar level is low. Get some exercise. Talk to someone. Ask yourself what you are doing or not doing that is making you unhappy. Don't drink alcohol since it will make you more depressed.
