A lot of people are snobby and way too self-centered. I'm trying to get into a hard working program called Alki for my next middle school year, but i'm not sure. There's some things i'll miss to much from my old school. What's a sixth grader like me to do? Help!

I agree. A lot of people in Middle School are snobby and self centered... If there are more good things about the program then bad things, go for it!

I am in 8th grade and my 6th grade year sukced! Ihated every bit of it. I had straight As too, and I had a group of friends, but I just hated it. I am applying for this program next year that is suposed to be great. But, if you get into that program. go for it. If you don't, you'll be okay, you'll get situated. Remeber that you are a good person and inside you can think about what idiots those are people look like.

Hec yea I am in High School and I can bearly stand the people in it and the worst thing is that I go to a skool whereby majority of them are black but Newayz I ignore them and concentrate on my work and if skool sucks try and depend on home I guess that will be more fun or find something that can make you happy Like my best friend is like my only friend in the world because alot of people think I am annoying and talk to much but still she talks to me .

You're at an akward age; a time to really learn about who you are, and, yes, people can be crual. It's not about "letting people get to you." It hurts, but it's how you react and hadle it that matters. If you can avoid them, that's one thing, but if you can't, report them to the school counselor. I'm almost sure they'll ignore it, sadly. Rise above anyone who gets in your way of your hard work. In this case, Alki, I'm proud of your doings, and I don't have to know you to be proud.

I went to an accelerated program starting in 5th grade and it was wonderful. Everyone there was very accepting and had a common bond. Go for it.

get out of the negative environment... unfortunately you probably wont get away from snobbish behavior completely but you could be with people of your own caliber and maybe be more comfortable.
