Ok I'm not 30 until this summer, but I had to think that maybe it's time for an analysis of my personal style. I haven't had one in about ten years.

I am a single white male. 6'3" 180 pounds. I have dark hair and wear glasses(will not do contacts). My eyes are somewhat sunk into my head and can shift in color from slate grey to green to brown. I am a CPA, mountainer, fairly culturered and had a mother that beat a degree of etiquete into me. Facial shape is square to rectangular. I have the squared jaw and unfortunately the lanky body. My hair style is typically short, with mid ear sideburns.

I have not owned a pair of tennies in years, nor do I wear items with ads on them or sport teams.

So what style should a man in my position look at? Links would be helpful. I peruse GQ, Details, and Esquire. I am however not that colorful and a little too much of that looks metrosexual or gay. Wont go that route.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Actually, the Details, GQ, or Esquire looks are pretty much good, classic dressing. Details does go more towards the metro side, but GQ is just good, fashionable dressing for men.

Don't be fooled into dressing like every other shmuck in your office.

lol, you are too cute. =)
By the way you described yourself (thanks for that by the way), I imagine you dressing very professional most of the time. I say a pair of slacks and a button up top... am I right? That's not bad, but maybe you feel like you need a little change? If I'm wrong, then here's some ideas anyway:
First, I don't see anything wrong with being "lanky," some gals actually like that sort of thing.
You say you haven't worn a pair of tennies in years; is this because you don't ever want to wear them? Or you just don't know which ones to get? Diesel shoes are pretty nice... but I know what you mean.
If you often dress up and are looking for something more casual, I'd suggest something like a clean, unfaded t-shirt, any color, but I love navy, white or black, with a pair of jeans or casual slacks. Sounds plain, but I find this clean cut, hansome, yet casual all rolled into one. If you're stuck in between casual and dressy, try a blazer with a t-shirt underneath. Polo shirts are also pretty cool, depending on the color. Personally, I think someone @ almost 30 can still pull of a good pair of jeans, so I recommend pairing that with a blazer and some nice shoes.
Sorry this is so long!
Your best bet is to go to nordstrom.com. I admit, some of the stuff is pretty metro, but just look around, and you'll find something perfect. OR if you go into the store, the associates are SO nice and will be glad to help you once you tell them your situation. :) hope this helps!

P.S. 29 really isn't old... ;)

If you want your ears pierced, go for it. There are many men older than you who have their ears pierced today. The first time people you know see you wearing earrings they will probably make a comment and ask you some questions. Be prepared with short, direct answers as to why you decided to have your ears pierced and wear earrings. You will have to wear the studs used to pierce your ears all the time, 24/7, while your ears heal. When the six week healing period is up and you change your earrings for the first time you may actually be disappointed by how little attention anyone pays to your new earrings.
