I have not heard of this in sometime!! You do know that just about 10 years ago Imas used a preservative in the food that in high doses was actually a poison!!! I hate Iams and Science diet is really not much better! I have been telling Friends to stay away from both for years!! Do you have a link to the story you are referring to??

I am so sick of these rumors! I think its ridiculous how many people have no actual idea how these animals are treated and the strict protocols that are followed. I work for a veterinarian who has actually worked in the Iams labs and these animals are treated better than most people treat their own. Each study has a strict set of rules which must be followed, at any sign of illness the animal is pulled from the study and given top of the line medical treatment. These people are researching diets that have changed the face of veterinary medicine and saved hundreds of pets lives. The typical study consists of feeding a dog a diet and monitoring different blood levels and effects on body organs. All biopsies are take under anesthesia with proper pain medication. They pets are given set amount of times for exercise and are cared for by veterinary technicians and veterinarians. Did you know that after a dogs career is finished, Iams pays for them to live out the rest of their lives in comfort on a ranch in Arizona? Do you honestly think the hundreds of veterinary professionals that work for iams would let nything of shady ethics occur in the lab? And what do you propose they do test these foods on? Would you rather they put out a prescription diet that had not been tested? I am the first one to be against cruel animal testing that is done in some industrys but companies like Hills and Iams do not deserve the ridicule. Fanatic groups like Peta have put out all kinds of false info and misleading pics, and the only reason this story is going around again is because they have been getting so much poor publicity in the past few weeks when it was found out they were euthanizing hundreds of animals and disposing of them in dumpsters. If you want to take a moral stand against something, educate yourself before you speak.
