Here is a website that takes you step by step thru the process with pictures.... basically pour the wax into mold, about 1/2 inch from top, allow to cool some til the top gets a bit solid, poke holes down into candle almost to the bottom, not completely. Allow to cool completely (even if it takes a day to cool) go back reheat the leftover wax from the pour to 5-10 degrees hotter, fill in the holes to almost the top, dont go over the first top or you get a line around the sides..... then allow to cool again..

The issue with the scent is usually up to the maker, try adding a few more droplets of scent into the mix, or another brand... keep in mind that while making the candle you smell it so much you may not be able to smell the finished candle.... go away for a bit and come back and smell it..... it may smell better later...

Check out the site, it has GREAT info... Good luck with the next candle!!

I have a candle maker called Candle Creations, and this happened to me, too. I think the directions said to pour some more wax in a second time, to fill the sinking. If it doesn't work, try cutting a slice off with a knife to make it straight. As for the scent, there are order forms for more expensive stuff, maybe it works better.

this sounds like you may have to heat the mold as well and pour the wax in while the mold is hot because i think you may have air in them . never made a candle but did work in a foundery yes the next person said fill mold in single pour sorry it didnt occur to me that you might not be doing that do that one pour

Lay a pencil or dowel accross the top of the mold. Tie the end of the wick to the pencil. You should end up with a relatively flat top rather than the crater.
When the wax cools it it has a tendency to shrink pulling the wick down with it. Tieing the wick acts as a resistance and helps to avoid the huge crater. It won't be perfectly flat, but it should be a lot better than before.

Fill the mold in a single pour, try using smaller molds. For the smell, use more or a higher quality scent.
