1. Why are you a vegetarian? and if you eat a lot of soy; I would recommend for you to read my blog on Yahoo 360.

I wrote a blog entry a fw days ago about the dangers of eating soy.

Eating a vegetarian or vegan diet is your choice. I cannot survive on a vegetarian diet (I nearly died twice)

I eat very little meat Just enough to keep my body going, then eat vegetarian the other two meals a day.

2. Have you looked at the ratio between your LDL and HDL cholestrol?

My cholesterol is in the high range (over 200) but the doctor is not worried about by cholesterol because I have an extremely good ratio of LDL to HDL.

Cholestrol is a lot more variable than a single number.

Garlic destroys bad cholesterol in the body while keeping the good cholesterol intact. So the best ayurvedic or herbal cure is to consume atleast 250 gms of garlic well cooked with other food in a month.

Everyone is obsessed with oatmeal! You need to lower your dietary intake of saturated fat and increase your intake of healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fats. So you are looking at avocadoes, oily fish such as tuna, small helpings of unsalted raw nuts, seeds like pumpkin and sunflower. Oh yes and also keep up your fibre intake with a huge range of fruit and vegetables, a variety of grains (such as oats). Rye is good too, don't just rely on wholegrain wheat for your fibre. Watch your intake of full-fat dairy and too much red meat. Sometimes with the healthiest diet in the world, your "bad" cholesterol may stay high, blame your parents and listen to your doctor's advice re medication etc.

To lower your cholesterol try "flaxseed oil" or ground flax seed - 1 tablespoon/day.

Also, have garlic with your foods. Or try a garlic supplement - if the smell bothers you. It's useful for bringing down th triglycerides.

You see the results after 6-8 weeks.
