My new friend is korean and he told me he doesnt like japanese history because when korean was still a one country, japanese ripped off korea on one of the import and didnt give them benefits. thats why he doesnt like the japanese history. but he said he likes everything else about japan.

I would say that your friends is definately not racist. He's just a little bitter that his people were ripped off in the past, but that's something that comes with having national pride. If he shows no other tendancies towards prejudice of the Japanese, i don't think you need to make any assumptions.

No, but it' doesn't mean its a little ignorant or biased. You're a racist if you dislike someone based solely on their ethnicity. People are entitled to their own opinions, but when someone dislikes or even hates someone else only because of their ethnicity that is when it crosses over to racism.

That isn't racist...he's just saying he doesn't like what happened to his country in history. He doesn't hate you becuz you're japanese, right? then he isn't racist.

no, it doesn't make them racist. I dont' like some of America's history, but that doesn't make me racist against Americans. I am one myself

He's more ignorant than prejudice. He has no idea what your country is all about. I'd still keep a close eye on him if I were you.
