I've got a Vox AD50VT, which has some great sounds on it. You can get a 15 watt version of that for not much money. I do get the sneaking suspicion that I should have bought a Fender Blues Junior, which is a proper valve amp, but is a bit dearer.

I'm not sure if Behringer makes anything that small, but check them out. Their quality is GREAT and the prices are VERY affordable. The Behringer I have is larger.
My bass practice amp is a 15 watt Crate. I've been really happy with it!

If your looking for an amp that you're going to use a lot of distortion, then i suggest you buy a small Crate Amp or go to GuitarCenter.com and go to search and type in 'amps'.

buy a power cube, its amazing, these other guys have no idea what they are talking about, a "knitted one" has no bearing to whether its good or not, i bought 300 dollar line 6 that is louder and and better sounding than a 1200 dollar knitted front vox
