I have seen the Aurora Borealis in northern Norway and the Aurora Australis in Antarctica. Auroras are magnificent particularly over a seascape of icebergs. The aurora is not, however, the most spectacular natural phenomenon I have seen. That would have to be a total eclipse of the Sun.

I saw it aprox. 40 years ago, believe it or not just outside Cincinnati, Ohio. Being that far south, the lights were not as vivid as the would have been elsewhere, but I remember being enthrawed by them. I was constantly asking questions as we viewed them, unfortunately my dad was only able to answer a few of them. They were mainly dancing curtains of white with red and green tinges along the bottom, There was several elevations of them and were in an approx. 45 degree arc of the northern sky.For a person my age at the time, they were more interesting and exiting than beautiful.

Yes, both my wife and I have seen it, we were traveling north on a state route one evening in northern Ohio when we saw it. We pulled our vehical over off the road and got out to really see it well. It was one of the most awesome things we have ever seen, a wall of pink and green, absolutely beautiful, we didn't realize what it was at first, but we have never seen anything like it before. We also got an excellent view of Hallebop Comet while we were in Tennessee, pitch black out with no lights around and Hallebop Comet was framed in the valley we were in between two mountains, stunning.
