Maybe you shouldn't take him around your family if he is that unhappy around them. If he doesn't want to be there it may be for the best. I know it is hard for you because you would want everyone together for different occasions. We have to allow people to grow and understand at their own pace. He may come around one day and understand that he can love them because they are a part of you. But he can love you and not like being around them. It's really okay because he is married to you and not your family. I do understand what you are saying but don't take it so personal just let him stay at home if that what he really wants to do. Don't get upset if that what he choose to do, just let it be. We can't force people to get alone with other people if they choose not to. You have to except this and just move on from this issue. Maybe one day it will all work out the way you would like but until then just find peace with the hold situation. Don't try to make him understand, he feels the way he feels. Don't be afraid to do things a little different. Don't be afraid of change. In the end it all works out for the best for everyone. Good luck.

Get rid of this prick ASAP!! How rude to sit there and insult your family, like I don't care for my husbands family but when I go there I am friendly and treat them with respect. This guy obviously thinks he is too good for your family, so he probably thinks he is too good for you too.

For a person like this I would have no patience. I would let them know in no uncertain terms my feelings as to their comments and I would also let them know to stop it now. If this person was married to me then I would certainly give him or her an ultimatum which would be that if they do not immediately stop a divorce is inevitable. If they did not stop then I would throw them out and divorce them in a New York minute. There is no excuse for rude behavior.

Yes, if they feel about that about your family they probably feel like that about you unfortunately. Family despite their problems, are your family, you have more invested with them than your spouse and you should never take a back seat when it comes to family. If he or she doesn't like it, time for them to be sent packing.
