It isn't nice to generalise about any nationality because not all Irish are heavy drinking fighters, there are some very intelligent and very caring people in Ireland, I have lived in the UK for some years and have found the majority have a pub culture in that everything revolves around the pub. Why are all your soaps based around pubs then? Eastenders, the Queen Vic, Emmerdale, The Woolpack, Corrie, The Rovers Return. Need I say more?

I've met loads who aren't, loads who enjoy a drink from time to time but don't get into fights, a few who drink a lot, still no aggro, and none who are fighters! Lovely friendly, smiley people. Well the ones I go out with are!

My Grandmother is from Ireland and yes they like their whiskey and they love their pubs. She took me to Ireland once and while all the kids stay at home and some but most of the adults went out pub crawling.

have you ever went out any night at the weekend and come closing time ,now tell me all is peaceful and quiet, people are the same be they Irish Scots English or welsh,if you think other wise you are kidding your self.

i have actually believe it or not, think most like a drink but so do us Scots!!! not sure on the fighting.
