Dianne M has one respectable theory.
Another theory is that the information reaches one side of the brain before the other.
A more esoteric idea is that time itself is a construct and that in reality everything that is, will be or has ever been, all exist in one vast all-encompassing 'NOW'. One of the jobs of our brains is to convert the 'now' into time. Deja-vu happens when there is a blip in this process.
All very intriguing but I'm sure I've written this all before at some time. . .
Or was it? ? ?

Deja vu is a period during which the normal electrical circuits in your brain make a temporary short circuit. The effect is that a message arrives in less time than it should take. Your brain pulls data out of memory very fast and processes experience much more slowly. Thus, when it receives information fast it assumes it came from memory and not experience. That is why you think you've experienced it before, you think it's a memory.

If you believe in "past lives" some say that deja-vu is the experience being relived again in the current life. That is one theory I heard.

i believe if deja-vu was investigated scientifically then maybe scientists could be able to finally make time travel possible.
