French marigolds deter nematodes (worms)
Plant marigolds near asparagus to repel beetles
Tansy, marigolds and nasturtiums are also repellent to beetles.
Nasturtiums and marigolds planted near squash plants may deter squash bugs.
I would try using marigolds to prevent thrips and mites away from other plants
There is a variety of marigold that is almost daisy-like in appearance, with yellow-orange petals... the marigolds you would purchase would be the ones with the frilly petals

Theroy: Planting Marigolds attract the Hover Fly, THe hover fly eats aphid larva BUT Timing is WAY off, A tomato plant will be dead from aphids before the hover fly is mature enough to lay eggs
Theroy: Marigolds kill root knot nematodes, reality you need to plant on a 6x6 pattern of Marigolds, every other year and till them in to be effective
