the method of X-ray which Watson and Crick used to determine the double helical structure of DNA was one which Rosalind Franklin had developed and was using for a different purpose, Watson and Crick knew the structure but could not prove they did this by borrowing Franklins techniques.

Rosalind Franklin determined the structure of DNA by means of X-Rays and the others (all males) got the credit and Nobel Prizes. I kid you not!

watson and crick discovered the double helix, they got credited for it but the actual people that took the x-ray photos and discovered the structure was two womwn, wilkins and franklin.
