land mammal? You must have either misspoken or you are mistaken.

There are several thousand species of mammals. Mammals are warm-blooded. They need to keep moving (when awake) so that the blood continues to flow regularly and the body stays warm constantly.

There are seventeen orders of mammals, and not one order contains any species that do not move. Species as diverse as bats, horses, shrews, kangaroos, pigs, lemurs, anteaters, dolphins, bears, manatees, squirrels, etc. They all move about in search of food, mates, and to mark territory. Movement causes the blood to flow well. This keeps the animals warm.

The mammals that hibernate: their bodies become inert; their blood flow slows; their body temperature drops. The temperature of the body of such a creature goes down, because that allows the animal to remain asleep for a long period of time without nourishment (except in some cases those that feed off their own fatty tissue). and with slower metabolism which means the animal can survive during the hibernation (providing some other carnivorous animal did not find its hiding spot).
