I think the Tigers will win the A.L. Central.

I believe the Detroit Tigers will win. They have been a great contender through the years and most of the team is young. In the offseason, the Tigers traded for outfielder Gary Sheffield, acquired 40-year old veteran pitcher Jose Mesa, claimed touted pitcher Edward Campusano as a Rule 5 selection, and signed third baseman Brandon Inge and starting pitcher Jeremy Bonderman to long-term contracts (both four year contracts). The Detroit tigers also signed Nate Robinson, Craig Monroe, and 2nd baseman Omar Infante, all which avoided arbitration. They, too, signed first basemen Sean Casey to a one year extension. Casey was traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Tigers earlier in the 2006 season. Casey replaced Chris Shelton at first base. The Tigers, with resignings, trades, and signings, will definiltey help the Tigers make another run at the Divisonal chmapionsup and another run at the pennant. However, no pennant champions have repeated as pennant champions since the New York Yankees from 2000 season and 2001 season. They have made some nice trades as you can see and their pitching is decent.

The Indians by far the best offense in the Central, but unless Sabathia becomes the ace they expected him to be they will remain a level below the Twins and Tigers. As much as it kills me to say it, it would appear that the Tigers have the edge due to the addition of Sheffield and Liriano's injury for the Twins. However, I still am unsure if the Tiger's young pitchers can repeat last season's work and stay sharp all season, plus Kenny Rogers is a year older. I think it will be a close race and fun to watch.

I think it comes down to two teams - Twins and Sox.
Twins - They have a good starting pitching staff. No one talks about any of them other than Santana and Liriano. But Liriano won't play this year. That leaves them with on Santana right? Wrong. They also have a great power pitcher in Boof Bonser, a good young right hander in Garza, and the best closer in the game in Nathan. The offense is vastly underrated. They will compete again.
Sox - A lot feel that they got rid of too much. That is not true. This is why they will compete again. They got rid of Garcia who is past his prime, and had many horrible outings last year. They improved their bullpen with the additions of Andy Sisco and Aardsma. They said goodbye to Neal Cotts and his long ball fast ball. He was just horrible last year. The offense has one of the best 3-4-5-6-7 punches in baseball with Thome, Dye, Konerko, Pierzynski, and Crede. They added a great backup catcher in Toby Hall. And Erstad will be a great pickup if he stays close to healthy.
About the loss of Brendon McCarthy - He has a lot of potential. But.. He was 4-7 last year out of the bullpen. His arm got tired as the season wore on, and he complained about "not being able to pitch out of the bullpen". Prima donna or soft? Either way, he will be a decent pitcher, but not a #1 on any staff. In return for him - two highly rated prospects including the #4 in all of baseball. I would say to get a #1 starter for McCarthy was smart. There is a lot battling for the #5 slot. Not even the #3 in the rotation.
If Buehrle returns to form, Contreras continues to dominate, Garland continues to win 15 + games a year, and Vasquez figures out how to pitch after the 5th, and with a really strong linup with a great closer - the Sox should see the postseason again.

BaseballChamp321 has it exactly right.

Although he did forget to mention Andrew Miller, who will start the season (more than likely) in Toledo because he needs the starts; and there is no room for him in our rotation.

Although you can never rule out Minnestoa. Liraino will be out all of 2007 (tommy john surgery). Even without him The Twins are a fiesty team and never give up or die! Look at 2006, at one point they were 14 games under .500 and come back.

I see Cleveland finishing in 3rd, with all 3 of these teams battling it out for the Division title.

2007 will see all 3 of these teams trading places, and one will win the division while one of the other 2 will be the wild card.

Chicago? you can cross them off your list even before the season starts.
HEY HEY HEY GOOD-BYE! SHA NA NA SHA NA NA HEY HEY GOOD-BYE!

KC will NOT lose 100 games this year, and with Dayton Moore at the helm I see KC being contenders in a few years time.

If Liriano is healthy, Twins

If Verlander and Bonderman are the same, Tigers

If Garcia pitches well, not White Sox

If Colon pitches well, Indians
