November 26, 2006 and December 2, 2006.
My bf and I got into two car accidents in just a span of six days - EXTREMELY SURREAL AND QUITE TRAUMATIC.
Both accidents were not our fault.
BANG!! That was how fast it went. It all happened so quickly - no time for my entire life to flash before my eyes - no time to think -no time for anything -- just a feeling of dread and doom.
On a lighter note, we both walked out of it, so I can't complain (much - haha). Sure feels good to be alive.

Yup. 20 years ago. Me and 3 other friends were driving on the outskirts of Norwich. Stupidly our driver decided to overtake the two other vehicles in front of us on a bend!!
Coming the other way was another car,....gulp!
We tried to pull in quickly in front of the first of the cars, but our driver lost it, big time.
We swerved a bit, I knew we were gonna crash, so I got down in the foot well behind the driver. This was before seat belts were fixed in the rear compartment.
We rolled and somersaulted through the air and crashed in some woods, taking a couple of fairly large trees down. I flew through the rear window, and the driver was jammed between the two front seats. My only injury was a broken wrist, our driver was partially paralysed for a year or two afterwards.
I broke down at work a few days later.
I also went to see the remains of the car after it was returned to my mate. I do not know how any of us got out alive. It was a mess.
All I can remember during the crash is the sound of broken glass and burning rubber. Totally surreal.
Never got into the seat behind the driver to this day.

I don't know if it was spectacular but although we made it out without a scratch we both thought that it would be the end.
We were towing a caravan to a friends house who was having a party. Travelling on the M4 motorway. We'd not long had the caravan and thought it would be useful as he had a lot of guests staying over. It was January, dark and windy. Suddenly as we were driving along we had no control over the steering and began to spin around, the caravan was whipping up all over the place. I knew we were on a busy motorway and felt total terror as I waited for the car to stop turning! I remember thinking, we can't survive this and feeling really disorientated because of the car turning.
It did eventually come to a halt, I breathed a sign of relief that we were all still ok, then quickly saw that we were now facing oncoming traffic and cars were swerving to avoid us. The caravan was sideways across the fast lane while we were facing the traffic in the middle lane.
We jumped out of the car and got our two young children and ran to the verge...then as my husband was running with my daughter, he fell in the middle of the motorway! He didn't want our daughter to take the brunt of the fall so he landed hard on his knees. I thought I would lose them both as I watched the traffic and my husband trying to get back onto his feet.,
We were in real shock. My husband INSISTED he rectify the caravan and car!!! I was screaming at him to leave it and call the police, but he was worried about leaving it in a dangerous place!!
He did manage it. I was so angry with him for going back out there again. The caravan was fairly damaged but we drove it back home and just sat in silence having a stiff drink. There were so many mental images racing through my mind..I just couldn't speak.
We both had flashbacks for some weeks after.
I think one of the reasons we survived it was that where the car ended up there was a slip road off the motorway and drivers were able to use that lane too, to avoid us.
I now know better...you see we were towing novices and we didn't have a stabiliser! We just didn't know back then.
Anyway we sold the caravan. (After towing it with a stabiliser one more time, because I didn't want out fear of towing to beat us)

No,but I've drove past some bad ones. Once,I was headed South and saw the North bound lanes backed up,and once I found out it was an accident,I wanted to turn around and go North,to check it out with a closer look. So I did,and it was a fatality. Car was in pieces, all over the road. Crazy scene.
Another time,I drove down a side road,as they had to close the highway. Fatal accident. People were out on the side road,on the train tracks to the side of the highway, taking pictures,as the county coroner arrived.

My boyfriend was... he was ran over by a tractor trailer and basically walk away from it. he was in rush hour traffic on a major highway and all the traffic infront of him was coming to a stop, the huge truck behind him did not realize traffic was stopping (i have no idea how he could not realize it) and so he hit my boyfriend. The driver of the truck saw his car at the last minute and swerved, he completly crushed the back seat (2 door honda civic), smashed the center councel and bent the front passenger seat. Amazingly my boyfriend's seat was the only thing spared. The force of the accident threw his car into 3 other cars and into on coming traffic. Thankfully the car stoped just before he went into the lanes. The truck driver claims he tried to stop, but all 11 people who made a police report said there was no sign of him trying to slow down. The paramedics rushed him to shock trama in baltimore md just because of how bad the crash looked. he said he thought all his teeth were knocked out because of the glass in his mouth and swore his nose was broken from all the blood, but that wasnt the case. he said he look in his rear-view mirror and saw the truck speeding towards him and asked, "is he gonna stop" right before it happened, then he "came to" in time to see the car come to a stop. he couldnt see the rest of his car from sitting in the drivers seat because of how bad the accident was.
After he left the hospital and everything started getting back to normal he was pissed... he spent a lot of time and money on that car and was pissed that it was gone. i kept saying "atleast you are alive" and he would say "yea, but im over that fact, now its the fact that i dont have a car, i have no money cus i cant go to work and my back hurts all the time." he is still pissed at the trucker and is planning on getting a lot of money out of the deal. the accident put him out of work for a while because of his back.
honestly, if you look at pics of his car, you can't tell that it was a car, it looks like a pile of scrap metal, his seat and his door were the only things spared, there are tire marks in whats left of his car. I am so thankful that he walked away from it. I think it affected me more spiritually than it did him, and im not a religious person, but when you see something like this happen, you have to ask yourself why it turned out how it did. Everyone thought he was dead. His work saw the accident on the news, the paramedics were surprised when they saw that everything was fine with him, and the doctors told him that he should to something amazing with his life because he was spared from the accident.

I was in a 10 car pile up....well I was in the middle of it. I missed the wall I was driving next to, the car in front of me and the car next to me. The car behind me missed me by inches.Thankfully no one was hurt except for a few scratches and dented cars, one car was totaled. It was in slow motion and it seemed to last forever. The only thing I could think of was how to save my kids that were in the backseat and I did have pictures of them flash through my head. It was very scary and I felt very lucky and blessed that although I was in the middle I was the only one that didn't get a scratch. Oh and yes the frequent use of questions marks is annoying!

Yes, I was in one. The same one I dreampt of exactly 3 months before. It's true. I believe that the dream saved my life cuz I remembered it just before the crash. Instead of screaming I felt a calm come over me. If I would of screamed I would of hit the steering wheel with my mouth wide open instead of on my jaw. Also it was an extremely hot day that day and I almost couldn't latch my seatbelt cuz it was burning hot but I had such a nervous feeling that I did it anyway. And I had almost brought my dogs with me but didn't cuz I had such a bad feeling. I later found out that my mom was extremely nervous that afternoon too for no apparent reason. Weird huh?

I just got my car, a 2001 Expedition. I did even have a chance to register it yet. But I was eager to drive it.. One day my sister and I decided we were going to go the mall with my new car. We got in the car, and the minute I got my out of the parking garage, a car just slammed into me, he hit me so hard that I lost control of the car, and I realised I was heading toward on coming traffic, with the air bag in my face, I turned the wheel as hard I could. Where I stoppped right in the middle of the double yellow lines, we were trapped in the car, because our doors would not open and there was smoke coming out of the hood. I opened the window and jumped out went to the other side got my sister out. There were fire men, police, ambulance every where. The guy who hit me, swirled and hit three parked cars, with his mini van.
The street was blocked for hours, and there was traffic from all sides. My car was totaled. But the police, fire men and ambulance guys were so nice, they took our blood pressure like sixty times. The police just wrote a report, and the other guy was high, so all he wanted to do was get out of there. He made no complaints, I did have insurance, because in California when you get a new car, your old insurance policy still covers you, even if your old vehicle is registered. Legally the crash was my fault, but like I said, the guy was so high, he just didnt care, all he wanted to do was avoid police.

I was in one when I was 20. Had had a little too much to drink and slammed head on (60 mph or so) without braking into a bridge abutment. Was driving a Honda Civic so you know there wasn't much left of it.
I had a depressed skull fracture, multiple facial fractures, a brain injury, broke almost all my ribs, and broke my ankle.
I was in the hospital for about a month, had multiple surgeries, and had to re-learn to do a lot of things, including walk.
The moral: Don't drink and drive.
Peace

I had a confrontation with the central reservation of a motorway once, doing about 80 mph.
No I didn't roll it. I do remember it being very quiet though, and in slow motion.
The only thing that flashed before my eyes was a lot of concrete and tarmac - and an airbag.
