it's like 10 years old & i havent used it in a long time. i want to hook it up again, but i cant find the plugs. is there any other way of making it start without buying a new battery or having the original chords?

I suggest you let this laptop go. Its so old that it won't even run the current version of internet explorer. You should seriously consider buying a newer one that is used or a new one. The origional chords will cost far more then that old laptop is worth. Honestly it isn't worth a dime. You would have to pay someone to take it from you sorry to say.

It sounds like your battery has some lifeless cells interior. If the pc is better than 2 years previous i'm afraid it's time to purchase a exchange battery. yet another much less conceivable answer is which you have a foul or broken connection between the battery and the powersupply of the pc. i'm hoping the hot battery is the wonderful answer. just to attempt that attempt paying for a battery regionally and if that doesn't restoration it return the battery and get you funds back.
