The test involves quickly drinking a sweetened liquid (called Glucola), which contains 50 g of glucose. The body absorbs this glucose rapidly, causing blood glucose levels to rise within 30 to 60 minutes. A blood sample will be taken from a vein in your arm about 60 minutes after drinking the solution. The blood test measures how the glucose solution was metabolized (processed by the body).
The drink is really sweet and thick. Some people will tell you to drink it slow so you won't vomit, but at my doctor's office the nurse's made me drink it pretty quickly so that the sugar goes in rapidly and so some of it doesn't burn of quicker than the rest. Good Luck and it really isn't that bad!

It is generally conducted once at approximately 28 weeks of pregnancy. Many women find it most convenient to take the test on the day of their 28-week clinic appointment. Plan ahead when you have the test run. The test can be done any time of the day, and an appointment is not needed.
You will be asked to drink one bottle of Col-Dex in five minutes or less. This is a solution which tastes best over ice or chilled. Your nurse will give it to you in the Obstetrics Clinic. Note the time you begin to drink it. Do not eat or drink anything else until the test is done. Your blood must be drawn exactly one hour from when you started to drink the Col-Dex, so plan to be in the blood drawing station about 10 minutes before the specimen is to be drawn to allow laboratory personnel to process paperwork.
hope this info helps u out
and good luck with everything!!! :)

I am pregnant for the first time(8 months) and have found these two things helpful.
If you are ever unsure about something your doctor says just ask them I am sure they will gladly tell you. Also If you don't have the book What to expect when expecting you should consider getting that book. It answers many questions like this and so much more! It was very comforting to me and answered a lot of my questions. The blood sugar test is just like they said above.

A blood sugar test is just blood drawn and tested. A tolerance test though is like 3 hours, they draw blood, give you super sweet stuff to drink and then draw blood again a few times over a 3 hour period to see how you are processing the sugar. Bring a book and a snack to eat as soon as you're done b/c you have to fast first. It's not bad, just boring.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

You get to drink something that can only be described at flat orange soda (refrigerate it first, it goes down easier that way). Then you have to get your blood drawn EXACTLY 1 hour later (some people recommend going to the lab before drinking it to ensure they'll be ready for you in one hour, but I live in a small town so I just called ahead to the lab to make sure I could get in).
Assuming everything is fine you don't need any further testing.

Well, it all depends on where you go... Some places only offer an orange drink and some offer orange, grape, or cola... They are all pretty nasty and incredibly sweet. Anyways, also depending on where you go, they will either draw some blood, or just prick your finger. They may also do this at about 32-36 weeks of pregnancy. As stated already, they are testing for gestational diabetes or pregnancy diabetes! Its really not that bad, good luck!

no, It's as simple as taking a drink, alright it could be a nasty drink. They are flavored, but not all offices carry the new flavors, it's a orange drink more or less. You'll have to wait an hour, and get your blood drawn. That's it.
Good Luck!

If I remember correctly they have you drink this syrupy stuff and check your blood sugar levels to make sure you haven't become diabetic during the pregnancy. It really isn't that bad, it just tastes a little yucky. But you will do great!!!
