I asked this yesterday, but didn't really get a real good answer. What is the best gaming processor, I am looking for something around $350 or less. Thats just for the processor, not including everything else.

What kind of socket type are you looking for? Your motherboard can only support one kind of socket and there are 4 diff active socket types still be sold for processors (LGA775- intel, 478- intel, 939- amd, AM2- amd). I like the AMD FX-57 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103558 it uses a socket 939 has a meg of L2 compared to most single cores having 512KB at most @ 2.8GHz- easily overclockable, and probably the best single core processor you can buy for under 350. I am not all into the dual core thing yet I have seen its performance and its nice and all but doesn't touch the performance I've seen from an overclocked single core FX processor..

Dont listen to some of these other idiots on here, they have no idea how anything works, they have the hardware and just becaues they do its TOTALLY AWESOME.. do some research pick the processor that fits you the best..

If you want a gaming processor then you should go for an Intel Core 2 Duo. For 350$ you could get one thats clocked at 2.66ghz -- 3.06ghz. If you're a extreme gamer...go for the one with the highest clock speed.

Highest dual core processor you can get for that price. You sound rich so get a system with 4 gigs or more of ram and windows vista ultimate. Vista ultimate ensures you have a good graphics card and anything else you need for a high performance system. You can get a really good gaming system for around $1,500- 2 grand.
