I read some answers on here and I've read answers from some "psychologists." They're always stating the obvious! "My son kills pets for fun." "Well, I have a psychology degree and that's not normal." It's all BS. I didn't know it took a psychology degree to legally give advice on common sense. I mean, they give good advice on things, but enough with the common sense!

Just because your a psychologist doesn't mean you have all the answers. Of course it is not normal for a kid or anyone to kill a pet. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I think most psychologists get paid too much for sitting there listening to other peoples woes and for what? Most of the time they don't even help them. They leave their office feeling worse than when they came in. Generally speaking most people can figure their own problems out if they really wanted to, it doesn't take a degree to do that, just take a look inside yourself and its all there. Face it and the truth will come out. Then do something about it. When it really gets down to it, the patient is the one who figures it out in the end.

Sometimes that's what a psychologist has to do - give advice based on common sense that, for whatever reason, the patient can't or won't think of for himself. What seems obvious to you or me may be a complete surprise to someone with mental problems, and sometimes it takes an objective person to get them to see what they need to do.

I thought you said you have a Psychology degree. One of the main rules as a psychologist or therapist is that you aren't allowed to give advice. What do you mean by "legal advice"? You may be able to b.s most but not EVERYONE!

dances is right ...sometimes the person has a very twisted sense of logic and the most common sense solution is forighn to them so the thearpist needs to impose the reality of common ,sense on them, abberant behavior is not always logical
so simply stating a common sense soulition may be the best way to get things started.

One of the reasons psychologists are in demand has to do with how many people don't have common sense.

Well the most mine could say was " I am surprised you haven't killed yourself by now" so I have to say that they are pretty much idiots who truly don't have solutions and just talk out their a s s e s like anybody else could...

Haha, I agree. I think that half of the time they don't know a diagnosis, so the either state the obvious or pull a diagnosis out of their butt.
