This is evolution in action. When our early ancestors spread out form Africa some move east and became isolated from the rest. Amongst them someone or possibly a family had a mutated gene with gave them that eye shape. This must have been a very dominant gene or the are they lived in it was an advantage of some sort so that those with that eye shape survived better than the others. Not all Asiatic people have that particular eye shape. the Hairy Anniu in who live in the North of Japan do not have that and as their name suggests they are much hairier than the rest of the Japanese. Recent DNA studies have shown that they are an Asian group but they have not evolved the typical characteristics of the rest of Asia probably because they became an isolated group very early on in the move to the east.

By Asian you mean people of Mongolian stock, not people from India, Pakistan, etc. right? Because in the US , "Asian" means people with narrow eyes, high cheek bones and straight black hair. ( In the UK it means Balgladeshi/Pakistani, etc.)

Is that what you mean when you say Asian?

Assuming you mean people that look like Jackie Chan, right?

Anyway, humans are from Africa, but a branch of them separated and ended up in Siberia wa-a-a-y back. Siberia is cold. Very cold.

Tryminus 60. Over thousands of years they stayed there, developed a broad cushion on the face to keep it warm and smaller eye openings to protect the eyes from blizzards and the white snow and the reflections of the sun on it.

Then, they multiplied and populated the whole Asian territory. Then, they emigrated and ended up in Hawaii and NY China Town and Monterey Park, etc.

But they have only been out of Siberia for a couple of thousand years, so they still preserve those characteristics.

It is to allow more articulation of the eyeball and better arcs of vision and easier rearwards vision. This is a result of Darwinian evolution in the same way "black" peoples have a darker more fierce sunlight compatible skin than the MK 1 Human being, the German, and the eye structure was a nescessary evolutional development facilitating the survival of the fittest in an environment where a swift unannounced stab in the back is the usual method of initiating and resolving personal conflict
