a) Buy an electronic tuner... its way easier... i know how to tune, but still have difficulty doing it without the tuner.

b) yes, get a chord book showing u the shape of chords... then find songs on the net or in books that tell u when to play the chord.

Teaching yourself guitar is easier if you have some basic music knowledge and are not a tone deaf singer...

More than possible! I'm 30 and I taught myself when I was a teenager.I bought an electronic tuner (I know its cheating but I was too lazy to learn!!) and that does most of the work for you. Buy a decent chord book and first learn the basics then go from there.
