check to see if you have a virus in that might of gotten in

What error are you getting?
I just had a java problem - and it said something about java runtime cannot be loaded. Obvioulsy that was only with games that use java.
But, I went to the java console, and did install updates - i think there was an update waiting to be installed.... I dont know if that should have made a difference - but everything is working fine now :)
Buut this is microcrap - things sometimes just happen for no reason.

if its a reboot and not a reformat, then try a system restore in order to get some old settings back if somehow they got changed when shutting down or something

Go into internet options on the toolbar and delete cookies and internet history. That usually does it for me.
