I cannot fathom what it would take for me to want to supervize what others do in their lives. Where do you think that need comes from?

If a controlling nature is normal, then yes.....but someone has to.

Fear. If you are afraid of someone you might want to keep an eye on them.

Note: I was told that the first police were those people tasked with hunting down fugitive slaves. Don't know how true that is.

perhaps a lack of control in ones own life would drive a person to want to supervise others in there lives. also the drive to be seen as "together and organised" may also come into play. i think alot of control issues stem from childhood and teen years as well and plauge us in adulthood
