I always find that if you coat them in talcum powder and sprinkle liberally with salt, they become quite fierce. Make exceptional guard cucumbers.

Cucumbers are incredibly versitile vegetables
You can use them in the pool
as artificial crocodile poo for obvious reasons.
If you draw an arrow on them it is a great sign for getting the children in for their dinner - "Cucumbhere" well known in our neighbourhood.
They have been know to be a bit seedy after a late night so best to avoid them on these occassions.
All in all a very appealing vegetable to have around.
