My mom bought me this cream colored coat. I love it but of course it gets dirty easily. Its machine washable but it's not supposed to be bleached. The last time I washed it the stains barely budged. So I figure it needs to be pretreated. What is the best way to do this and what are some good products to use?

The best way to get stains out is to get to them as soon as possible. Cold water works wonders. Blot or soak the stain with cold water as soon as it happens, if you can. (This worked wonders when a server knocked red wine all over a brand new sweater--I ran straight to the restroom and used cold water, and a little soda water. No stains whatsoever.)

If you can't get to the stain right away, try a stain stick. There are a lot of different brands. They usually work pretty well, unless the stains are really old. Just follow the directions on the label.

Also, after you wash your stained garments, check them before you put them in the dryer. Drying clothes in a dryer sets the stains.
